BARE

3 to 17 May
Director:  Renee Casserly
Co Director:  Mel Martin
Musical Director:  Steve Smith

Matt loves Ivy, who’s in love with Jason, who's in love with Peter, who's in love with Jason. Jason's not sure he wants his love for Peter to be exposed, meanwhile Peter wants to shout it from the rooftops. Ivy's looking for love in all the wrong places and in all the wrong ways; meanwhile Nadia (Jason's twin) fights with self image and learning to love herself. While the others are getting high on love, Lucas and co are getting high on something else.

Everyone struggles to find themselves, the acceptance from those they love and the world in general. For some of them, it's a battle that they won’t win.

Set in a Catholic boarding school, 'Bare' centres on the coming-of-age of five high school seniors. Altar boy Peter is in love with his roommate Jason, one of the most popular kids in school. They carry on a closeted romance but Peter wants to come out.  Jason isn't so keen on the idea, his entire world would crumble if word of the relationship got out. Things get more complicated when Ivy, a pretty and popular student, makes a play for Jason. Her rejected suitor Matt discovers Peter and Jason's secret and the teenagers lives get decidedly more complex.

Chicago

9 to 23 August 2008

Chicago is a Kander and Ebb musical set in prohibition era Chicago. The book is by Ebb and Bob Fosse. The story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and the concept of the "celebrity criminal." The musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins about actual criminals and crimes she had reported on.

The original 1975 Broadway production ran for a total of 936 performances. Bob Fosse choreographed the original production, and his style is strongly identified with the show. Chicago's 1996 Broadway revival holds the record for the longest-running musical revival on Broadway (not counting the revue Oh! Calcutta!) and, as of July 2007, it has played for more than 4,400 performances. The revival was followed by a production on London's West End and several tours and international productions. A successful film version of the musical was released in 2002.
